On the morning of Thursday 14 January, a group of six armed terrorists launched an attack in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia. Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is likely that the perpetrators were deliberately emulating the terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2015.
